La Zarzuela, Inc. presents a fully staged production of the zarzuela La Dolorosa (1930). The work, with an original libretto by J.J. Lorente and music by José Serrano, has been adapted for modern audiences by Jorge Arcila and Daniel Daroca. The new version features two new romanzas by Daniel Daroca, and cinematographic and virtual elements created by Jacqueline Solórzano.
This production is dedicated to ProArte Grateli -the organization that pioneered and kept alive the art of the zarzuela in Miami for almost half a century- in commemoration of its premiere of La Dolorosa over fifty years ago.
The cast -in alphabetical order- features: Jorge Arcila, Yetzabel Arias, Eduardo Calcaño, Miguel Cervantes, Carlos Jimeno, Silvia Ludueña, Laura de Mare, Karel Morell, Fer du Port, and Carlos Silva.
